Tottenham Hotspur duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min both broke Premier League goalscoring records as the Lilywhites strolled to a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

The Lilywhites entered the London derby having failed to win either of their top-flight games since the World Cup break, drawing with Brentford before a 2-0 loss to Aston Villa.

However, Antonio Conte's side ran riot against the Eagles to boost their top-four charge, with Kane netting a brace before Matt Doherty and Son got in on the act.

With 48 minutes on the clock, Kane headed home at the back post from Ivan Perisic's cross before doubling his tally just five minutes later after being picked out by the lively Bryan Gil.

In doing so, Kane increased his Premier League tally to 198 goals from just 300 appearances, surpassing a record set by the competition's all-time leading goalscorer Alan Shearer.

Shearer had struck 196 goals in his first 300 games - two fewer than Kane - and that was not the only Premier League record that the England captain had to shout about.

Following Kane's brace, Doherty found the bottom corner of the net before Son took advantage of an error from Marc Guehi to stroke home a fourth in the 72nd minute of the match.

The South Korean, who has forged a successful partnership with Kane over the past couple of years, has now scored alongside the England captain in 34 Premier League games, also a new competition record.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane previously held the record for the duo to score together in the most Premier League games, as Son netted for just the fourth time in a difficult Premier League season.

The 30-year-old admitted after the game that he felt "amazing" but "sorry" for his teammates after failing to hit the same heights of his previous seasons so far this term.

"This is a difficult place to come and play well, second-half we turned around and scored four goals. This place is really difficult but I think the lads completely deserved it second-half we dominated the game and I think scored four beautiful goals," Son told Sky Sports News.

"It felt amazing, it was about time. I felt really sorry for the team, they expect me to do more than I have been doing so today I hope it could be the turning point to get confident and back on the scoresheet.

"I hope to help the team. We're working really hard to be consistent and always in the game, a goal is always important to get confidence back. I think it's really, really important for me, it could be turning around hope I can score many goals as I can."

Tottenham remain fifth in the Premier League table but have now closed the gap on fourth-placed Manchester United - who have a game in hand - to just two points.

Conte's side now turn their attention to the FA Cup and will welcome League One side Portsmouth to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for Saturday's third-round match. body check tags ::
