Hugo Lloris: 'Tottenham Hotspur players understand Danny Rose frustrations'

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris says he and his teammates "understand" Danny Rose's frustrations, but suggests that airing them in public was a mistake.

Tottenham Hotspur captain Hugo Lloris has admitted that he and his teammates understand Danny Rose's grievances about the club's pay structure and lack of top signings, but urged him not to make the same mistake again.

The defender gave a controversial interview to The Sun on the eve of the new Premier League season, where he called on Spurs to sign players he 'wouldn't have to Google' and criticised the weekly wage cap of £100,000.

Rose, who also suggested that he would be open to a move away from White Hart Lane, went on to issue a full apology for the interview, admitting that his comments were "ill-judged" and apologised for any offence.

Speaking about his teammate's comments, Lloris told The Mirror: "Danny is part of the team and we understand his frustrations. It has been six or seven months he has been out of the team with an injury.

"The team is quiet about it. Danny made a mistake, he apologised and we move on. That's it. The team was never affected by it as we were focused on our first Premier League game. We know from outside if you start to listen, inside the squad, you can be affected but we stick together and must be focused and have the same ambition.

"We stayed calm. We are still in touch with Danny and there is no problem. If people from outside want to make trouble it does not affect us. We are a good squad, very clean with good minds and sometimes you can do mistakes. The thing is not to repeat them."

Rose has not played for Spurs since January due to a long-term knee injury but is closing in on a return to first-team action.
