Paris Saint-Germain have seemingly triggered the one-year extension option in Mauricio Pochettino's contract amid links with Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid.
The former Spurs boss scooped a Coupe de France and Trophee des Champions winners' medal during his first half-season in the Parc des Princes dugout, but his pursuits of Champions League and Ligue 1 glory ended in failure.
As a result, speculation over Pochettino's next career move is gathering pace, as Spurs are supposedly keen to bring him back while Madrid are rumoured to be considering the Argentine as an ideal successor to Zinedine Zidane.
Pochettino's deal at PSG expires in 2022, but the club have the option to trigger a 12-month extension, and sporting director Leonardo's recent comments suggest that the club have activated that clause.
Speaking to French radio station Europe 1 over the weekend, Leonardo said: "Mauricio Pochettino has two years on his contract here at PSG and we are very happy with him."
Pochettino enjoyed a strong relationship with Harry Kane in North London, but his possible return to Tottenham would reportedly not be enough to convince the England captain to stay. body check tags ::
