The Football Association has charged PFA Young Player of the Year Dele Alli with an alleged act of violent conduct during last night's Premier League match between Tottenham Hotspur and West Bromwich Albion.
Video footage appears to show the 20-year-old Spurs midfielder punching Claudio Yacob as the two tussled in the penalty area last night.
The FA is allowed to retrospectively punish players for incidents which are not seen by the match officials but caught on video.
In a statement, the FA added that Alli has until 6pm tomorrow to respond to the charge. If the England international, crowned Young Player of the Year on Sunday night, accepts the charge he is likely to face a three-game ban and miss the rest of the season.
Title hopefuls Spurs threw away a one-goal lead in the match to manage just a point against the Baggies, leaving Leicester City seven points clear and needing only one more win from their last three games to secure an unlikely league win.
