Queens Park Rangers are reportedly keen to sign Jermain Defoe from Tottenham Hotspur before the start of the new Premier League season.
The club's vice-chairman Amit Bhatia revealed yesterday that Liverpool frontman Craig Bellamy was a transfer target of manager Mark Hughes.
However, Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is believed to be eager to keep hold of the 33-year-old former Welsh international.
That has led Hughes to turn his attention to England's Defoe, who is said to be available at the right price, according to the London Evening Standard.
Defoe scored 17 goals in all competitions for Spurs last season.
