Newcastle United have opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over a possible move for England midfielder Dele Alli, according to a report.
The 25-year-old has made just 10 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this campaign, of which only eight have been starts, and with just a single goal being scored during that time.
Now according to Football Insider, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has given the green light for The Magpies hierarchy to open talks with the North London outfit in an attempt to bring Alli to the North East in January.
Howe reportedly decided against the move earlier this month, with his focus being on other areas of the pitch that needed more attention, but now looks to have had a change of heart.
Alli has struggled for game time in recent seasons like compatriot Jesse Lingard at Manchester United, who had also been linked with a move to St James' Park, but following a lack of progress on that deal, Newcastle's focus looks to have turned towards the Spurs man instead.
Since the Saudi takeover, Newcastle have brought in Alli's former Spurs teammate Kieran Trippier from Atletico Madrid, as well as Chris Wood from fellow strugglers Burnley. body check tags ::
