Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min is reportedly still a target for the Saudi Pro League ahead of the expiry of his Lilywhites contract in 2025.

The South Korea international has rediscovered his mojo since the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, who bestowed him with the armband following the exits of Hugo Lloris and Harry Kane in 2023.

Son already has two goals under his belt from three games in the 2024-25 campaign, having netted 17 times while providing 10 assists in 35 top-flight contests during the 2023-24 season.

However, the former Bayer Leverkusen man's long-term future is still up in the air, as he could enter pre-contract talks with foreign clubs from January onwards should he enter the last six months of his deal.

Son's current terms are believed to include a 12-month extension, but Tottenham have not yet triggered that option, and Al-Ittihad were said to have been considering a move for the South Korean earlier this year.

Saudi Pro League 'still pursuing' Son amid contract uncertainty

While those links ultimately led to nowhere, Fichajes claims that the Saudi Pro League still have Son on their radar as a marquee addition for the summer 2025 window.

As well as Al-Ittihad, who employ the likes of Karim Benzema, Fabinho and N'Golo Kante, Al-Nassr, Al-Ahli and Al-Hilal could all try to bring Son to the Middle East with backing from the Public Investment Fund.

Tottenham are still thought to be planning to trigger Son's 12-month contract extension, after the 32-year-old admitted over the summer that he had become "uncomfortable" with the noise surrounding his future.

However, it is unclear whether that move would precede a long-term extension for Son, who turns 33 next year and cannot realistically expect a new four or five-year agreement in North London.

The South Korea international has come up with 164 goals and 84 assists in 411 games for the Lilywhites since 2015, but he has never won a major trophy during his nine years at Tottenham.

What other Premier League stars are Saudi Arabia targeting?

Son is just one of a handful of celebrated Premier League names high up on Saudi Arabia's transfer wishlist, as the Saudi Pro League are also hopeful of luring Manchester City and Liverpool stars to the Middle East with mammoth contracts.

Liverpool trio Alisson Becker, Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are all being targeted by the division, and the latter two are out of contract this summer alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne is in the same boat and recently addressed the summer Saudi saga, while Pep Guardiola's number one goalkeeper Ederson was heavily linked with a switch too.

The arrival of Dominic Solanke at Spurs also led to suggestions that Richarlison could jump ship for the Middle East, but the Brazilian will remain in North London at least until January.

An unnamed Saudi Pro League side are also reported to have failed with a late offer for Arsenal attacker Leandro Trossard, whom Mikel Arteta has no intention of parting ways with. body check tags ::
