Tottenham Hotspur have allegedly failed with an enquiry regarding Juventus defender Merih Demiral.
With Jan Vertonghen having left for Benfica earlier in the summer, Jose Mourinho has been in the market for a new centre-back.
According to Goal, that led to the Premier League outfit making contact with Juventus over a potential deal for Demiral.
However, despite the 22-year-old not being regarded as first choice at the Italian champions, Andrea Pirlo has no interest in parting ways with the Turkey international.
Although Mourinho has recently hinted that he is content with his defensive options, Spurs may make further enquiries ahead of Monday's deadline.
Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar has also been linked with a switch to Spurs.
