Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Jacob Ramsey in a potential swap deal.
The early stages of Tottenham's transfer window have been largely dominated by departures, having bid farewell to Eric Dier, Joe Rodon, Tanguy Ndombele, Ivan Perisic, Ryan Sessegnon and Japhet Tanganga.
However, they have completed a couple of signings, recruiting the highly-rated talents of Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray from Djurgarden and Leeds United respectively.
While they were successful with those two moves, it was recently reported that Spurs failed in their bid to agree a swap deal for Villa's Ramsey.
Spurs pursuing Ramsey swap deal
But in conflict with that report, Sky Sports News are reporting that Tottenham are still interested in signing Ramsey in a swap move.
Tottenham are currently exploring the prospect of pulling off a player-plus-cash deal which would see Giovani Lo Celso move in the opposite direction.
Lo Celso is a player known to Villa boss Unai Emery after the pair previously worked together at Paris Saint-Germain and Villarreal.
Meanwhile, Spurs technical director Johan Lange is fully aware of Ramsey's talents from his time working as Villa's sporting director.
Ramsey's versatility may appeal to the North London club, having proven that he can play as a central midfielder, an attacking midfielder and a wideman.
Villa reluctant to part ways with Ramsey
Although Emery may have previously coached Lo Celso, he appears to be in no immediate rush to part ways with Ramsey this summer.
The Villans believe that the 23-year-old possesses real potential and are reluctant to sanction his departure despite his struggles with injury last season.
Ramsey's fitness issues restricted him to just 16 Premier League appearances, where he contributed one goal and one assist.
It also remains to be seen whether Ramsey would be willing to leave, especially as Villa are set to participate in the Champions League next season.
The Villains are ultimately under no immediate pressure to sell, with the midfielder under contract until the summer of 2027.
