Tottenham Hotspur showing interest in Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel?

:Headline: Tottenham Hotspur showing interest in Bayern Munich's Mathys Tel?:
Tottenham Hotspur reportedly hold an interest in Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel, but a part-exchange deal with Harry Kane is not thought to be on the cards.

Tottenham Hotspur are admirers of Bayern Munich attacker Mathys Tel, according to a report.

The 18-year-old came through the youth system at Rennes and made 10 senior appearances for the French club before earning a €20m (£17.2m) switch to Bayern last year.

Despite failing to find the back of the net for Rennes, Tel quickly found his feet at the Allianz Arena and managed six goals from 28 matches across all competitions during his debut campaign.

The 2005-born attacker mainly featured off the bench for the German champions - making just one start in the Bundesliga - but he has hit the ground running in pre-season since a positive opening year.

Tel netted five goals in a 27-0 thrashing of ninth-tier FC Rottach-Egern earlier in July, before also scoring in a 2-1 loss to Champions League winners Manchester City in midweek.

Tel's contract at the Allianz Arena only runs for another two years, though, and according to The Telegraph, Tottenham have taken an interest in the France Under-19 international.

Spurs and Bayern are currently locked in negotiations over a possible transfer for Harry Kane, and the Bavarians' chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen and technical director Marco Neppe are expected to hold further talks with Daniel Levy on Monday.

As well as continuing talks for Kane, Tottenham could also use the opportunity to formalise their interest in Tel, whom Bayern may use as a bargaining chip in their efforts to sign the England captain.

Spurs are already believed to have made enquiries about the young Frenchman, although Bayern are still thought to be planning to keep hold of him beyond the end of the summer window.

As a result, there is currently no indication that a part-exchange deal involving the two players could be struck, but Bayern are not said to have closed the door fully on a permanent or temporary exit for Tel.

Bayern appear to have jumped to the head of the queue for Kane after the 30-year-old ruled out a move to Paris Saint-Germain, while Manchester United are set to sign Atalanta BC's Rasmus Hojlund instead.

Thomas Tuchel is believed to be driving his side's interest in Kane, who would be willing to make the switch to Germany, despite his well-known desire to become the highest scorer in Premier League history.

Bayern have supposedly seen two offers for the striker turned down by Tottenham, who have not given up hope of extending Kane's contract, which is currently due to expire at the end of the upcoming campaign.

However, Kane is not thought to be planning to renew his deal while the transfer window remains open, and Spurs owner Joe Lewis has allegedly told Levy that the club's all-time top scorer must go this summer if he refused to extend.

Tottenham have added to their attacking ranks this summer with the capture of Manor Solomon, while Eintracht Frankfurt's Randal Kolo Muani and Nottingham Forest's Brennan Johnson have been linked with moves to North London in the event that Kane departs.
