Tottenham Hotspur full-back Serge Aurier has reportedly rejected the chance to join Wolverhampton Wanderers as part of the deal to take Matt Doherty in the opposite direction.
Spurs completed the £14.7m signing of Doherty today, with the long-serving defender signing a four-year deal.
However, the Daily Star reports that Tottenham had initially wanted a part-exchange involving Aurier moving to Molineux.
Doherty's arrival is expected to pave the way for Aurier to leave North London this summer, but the Ivory Coast international reportedly turned down the chance to join Wolves as he wants to move away from England.
AC Milan is understood to be his preferred destination, while Bayer Leverkusen have also been credited with an interest.
The 27-year-old has turned down a new contract with Spurs, who are holding out for a £20m bid from one of the interested parties.
