Wolverhampton Wanderers among three clubs keen on Spurs defender Djed Spence?

Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for three clubs in the Premier League.

On the back of starring in Nottingham Forest's promotion campaign in 2022-23, Spence earned himself a transfer to Spurs with parent club Middlesbrough having been ready to cash in on his signature.

However, despite expectations that the 22-year-old would earn regular minutes for the North London outfit, he is yet to make a single start.

Indeed, the England Under-21 international has been restricted to six brief substitute outings, remaining as third choice behind Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty.

Despite being well stocked for options at right wing-back, it has been widely claimed that Antonio Conte holds an interest in signing Sporting Lisbon's Pedro Porro.

Whether that transfer materialises will be dependent on if Spurs are willing to meet the Portugal international's release clause, said to be set at £39.7m.

Nevertheless, regardless of whether Porro makes the switch to Spurs, it appears that Conte will be left with a decision to make about Spence.

According to The Mirror, Spence is attracting interest from Wolves, Brentford and Southampton.

Wolves announced on Monday that young defender Dexter Lembikisa, who started against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Saturday evening, has penned a long-term contract at Molineux.

A loan exit remains a possibility, however, while Nelson Semedo is yet to fully convince during his time at Wolves and has less than six months remaining on his contract, although Wolves must decide whether to activate a two-year option.

Meanwhile, Brentford have Aaron Hickey and Mads Roerslev competing for their right wing-back role as it stands, and are unlikely to move for Spence unless Hickey suffers a setback in his upcoming return from an ankle injury.

Southampton boss Nathan Jones is in the market for fresh faces and may consider Spence in order to place less pressure on Tino Livramento's return from a serious knee injury.

Senior recognised backup is required for Kyle Walker-Peters, with youngster Juan Larios and centre-back Lyanco having to deputise there on occasions. body check tags ::
