Toby Alderweireld branded his Tottenham Hotspur teammate Harry Kane "one of the best strikers in the world" following their meeting in the third-place playoff at the 2018 World Cup on Saturday afternoon.
Alderweireld's Belgium claimed third position at this summer's competition courtesy of a 2-0 win over Kane's England, with Thomas Meunier and Eden Hazard scoring the goals for Roberto Martinez's side.
Kane is on course to claim the Golden Boot at the World Cup as his six goals currently lead the charts, and Alderweireld has backed the Three Lions captain to continue improving as a footballer.
"I think Harry is one of the best strikers in the world, of course he is," Alderweireld told reporters. "He's an all-round player. He's not just scoring goals, he's helping the team play better.
"The only thing he didn't do is score against Belgium so that's a positive for us! But he is a wonderful player and still very young as well, people forget that. He has the desire to be one of the best, maybe the best, and this is just the beginning I think."
Kane entered this summer's competition off the back of scoring 41 goals for Tottenham last season.
