Algeria midfielder Nabil Bentaleb has admitted that he was not expecting to play at the World Cup this summer.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season under former Tottenham Hotspur manager Tim Sherwood, but he concedes that the call-up still came as a surprise.
"It's going to be amazing for me," Bentaleb told members of the media. "A few months ago, I was expecting to be watching the World Cup on telly back home.
"But it's been a very good season for me and I think I've done pretty well to get my chance after my first season at the highest level."
Algeria will take on Russia, Belgium and South Korea in Group H.
