Crystal Palace winger Lee Chung-yong is out of the South Korea squad for the World Cup, but Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-min makes the cut for Russia.

Crystal Palace winger Lee Chung-yong has missed out on the chance of playing in his third World Cup after being cut from the South Korea squad for Russia 2018.

The Taeguk Warriors head to their Austrian training camp on Sunday without Lee as well as defenders Kwon Kyong-won of Tianjin Quanjian in China and Kim Jin-su of K-League champions Jeonbuk Motors.

Lee Keun-ho and Kwon Chang-hoon had already withdrawn from the initial 28-man roster due to injury.

Head coach Shin Tae-yong now has his final 23-man squad, with Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-min making the cut, while departing Swansea City midfielder Ki Sung-yeung captains the side.

Former Barcelona prodigy Lee Seung-woo, the 20-year-old Verona winger who only made his international debut in Monday's 2-0 win over Honduras, keeps his place in the squad.

The 2002 semi-finalists are in Group F of the World Cup and kick off against Sweden on June 18 before taking on Mexico and defending champions Germany.

South Korea's 23-man squad for the 2018 World Cup:

Goalkeepers: Kim Seung-gyu (Vissel Kobe), Kim Jin-hyeon (Cerezo Osaka), Cho Hyun-woo (Daegu FC).

Defenders: Kim young-gwon (Guangzhou Evergrande), Jang Hyun-soo (FC Tokyo), Jung Seung-hyun (Sagan Tosu), Yun Yong-sun (Seongnam FC), Oh Ban-suk (Jeju United), Kim Min-woo (Sangju Sangmu), Park Joo-ho (Ulsan Hyundai), Hong Chul (Sangju Sangmu), Go Yo-han (FC Seoul), Lee Yong (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors).

Midfielders: Ki Sung-yueng (Swansea City), Jung Woo-young (Vissel Kobe), Ju Se-jong (Asan Mugunghwa FC), Koo Ja-cheol (FC Augsburg), Lee Jae-sung (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors), Lee Seung-woo (Hellas Verona), Moon Seon-min (Incheon United).

Forwards: Kim Shin-wook (Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors), Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur), Hwang Hee-chan (FC Red Bull Salzburg).
