A first-half goal from Steven MacLean has given St Johnstone a 1-0 win over St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership this evening.
The home side made a bright start to the match, as John McGinn forced a save from Alan Mannus inside the opening five minutes, while Steven Thompson headed over.
However, St Johnstone began to find their way into the match, looking stronger as the first half progressed, and were able to edge ahead when MacLean smashed the ball into the top corner following a through-ball from David Wotherspoon.
Wotherspoon looked to double the advantage at the start of the second half, but his long-range strike just cleared the crossbar.
St Mirren struggled to threaten throughout the second half, allowing the visitors to dominate possession.
Josh Magennis came closest to getting the hosts back on level terms, but his header went just wide, allowing the visitors to hold on for the win.
