Fifty-five-year-old Dave Beasant has been named among the substitutes for Stevenage's League Two clash away at Carlisle United this afternoon.
The former England international took on the goalkeeping coaching role at Broadhall Way during the summer.
However, due to an injury crisis, manager Graham Westley has had to register Beasant as a player for today's trip to Brunton Park.
Beasant, who won the FA Cup with Wimbledon in 1988, last played professionally during the 2003-04 season for Brighton & Hove Albion at the age of 43.
