Stoke City keeper Jack Butland reveals that he is determined to replace Joe Hart as England's No.1 ahead of Euro 2016.

Stoke City keeper Jack Butland has targeted replacing Joe Hart as England's No.1 ahead of Euro 2016.

The 22-year-old has been in fine form for the Potters this season after claiming the starting spot between the sticks following Asmir Begovic's departure to Chelsea.

Butland has ingrained himself as Hart's backup for the Three Lions, but the Stoke stopper has revealed that he is determined to displace the Manchester City man to earn the starting spot.

"I'm massively passionate about playing for my country," Butland told Sky Sports News.

"I've been fortunate enough to play at all the age groups but I'm not eligible for them anymore. I've got to try and make a move with the senior team. I get on with Joe Hart really well. He joined Birmingham on loan when I was there and to see him working day-in, day-out was brilliant.

"As I've progressed I've tried to model myself on him. Having him in the England set-up is brilliant. I want to try and make more saves than him and he tries to do it to me. It's a good battle and it's something that makes us both better. I've learnt a great deal off him but, of course, I want to get past him and take the number one shirt."

Butland has made three appearances for England since his debut in 2012.
