Peter Crouch has said that he is "very pleased" to have matched Alan Shearer's record tally for headers in the Premier League.
The Stoke City striker nodded in the winner in the team's 1-0 win over Hull City at the Britannia Stadium on Saturday, securing his 46th headed goal in the top flight.
The 34-year-old told the club's website: "I'm very pleased to equal the record and it's an honour to see my name alongside Alan Shearer. He was one of the greatest Premier League strikers and someone I looked up to so that is a great feeling for me personally.
"Hopefully I can go on to beat the record before the end of this season, but the main objective is for me to get as many goals as possible, no matter what they like and help propel us up the league.
"It's a great tally but we always focus on the next game, there's a big game against Everton on Wednesday and we've got the belief in the changing room that get another three points there."
Stoke sit 10th in the table following yesterday's victory.
