A Premier League youth footballer for Stoke City has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his 15-year-old girlfriend.
Andrew Hall has been held following the death of Megan Leigh Peat at a party on Saturday.
However, it is understood that detectives have yet to question the 18-year-old, who reportedly received treatment in hospital for a severed finger.
Megan died following a knife attack at a party which had reportedly been thrown by a teenage boy while his parents were on holiday.
A Stoke City spokesman stated on Monday: "The club are not prepared to comment at this stage other than to say that the thoughts of everyone here are with Megan's family at this tragic time."
Hall played for Stoke's Under-18s side last season.
