Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has revealed that Saido Berahino could return to the squad for the Premier League clash with Liverpool.
Berahino has endured a frustrating time since moving to the bet365 Stadium in January, with the forward failing to score in 21 appearances in all competitions, but the former West Bromwich Albion attacker was a surprise absentee from the 18-man group to face Crystal Palace.
However, Hughes has claimed that doubts over the fitness of Mame Biram Diouf led to Berahino being left in the stands for the 2-1 defeat at Selhurst Park.
The 54-year-old told reporters: "We didn't know how long Mame Diouf would last on Saturday and needed cover on the bench which is why Saido Berahino missed out. He's in my thoughts for Wednesday."
Stoke head into the game in 15th place in the table, just three points above the relegation zone.
