Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has revealed that he wants Stephen Ireland to turn his loan move to the club into a permanent one at the end of the season.
The 27-year-old has made 14 appearances for the Potters this season after joining them on loan from Aston Villa, and Hughes is hopeful that he can snap up the Republic of Ireland international when his contact expires next summer.
Hughes is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News: "He's done very well for us and we're pleased with what he's producing.
"He's out of contract at the end of the season and it's fair to say I don't think Stephen thinks his future lies at Aston Villa. He will be moving somewhere. Ideally it would be to us."
Stoke are 13th in the Premier League after 16 games this season.
