Mark Hughes: "We're a little bit frustrated"

Stoke manager Mark Hughes is "frustrated" that shortcomings at either end of the pitch cost his side victory over Sunderland at the Britannia Stadium.

Mark Hughes has admitted that he was "frustrated" with shortcomings at either end of the pitch that cost Stoke City what he feels would have been a deserved victory over Sunderland.

The Potters went behind to a first-minute Connor Wickham goal before replying through Charlie Adam later in the first half of the 1-1 draw at the Britannia Stadium.

The point takes ninth-placed Stoke onto 47 with four games remaining, although Hughes is annoyed that "a lack of end product" prevented them from taking all three.

He is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "We're a little bit frustrated. We conceded a poor goal but after that I thought we were excellent, with a lot of chances and good play.

"In the second half they pressed us at the back and we needed to show more desire to get on the ball. We still had any number of chances but you have to put them away and today we didn't have that end product.

"I went with an attacking side today because we wanted to put them under pressure early... which we did after the goal. It takes us a point closer to our 50-point target."

Stoke travel to Swansea City, who are one place and three points above them, in the Premier League next weekend.
