Stoke City forward Peter Odemwingie has confirmed that he requires surgery on a knee injury that will sideline him for most of the season.
Odemwingie missed the second half of the Potters' shock 1-0 win away to Manchester City on Saturday after he was stretchered off the field on 46 minutes.
The Nigeria international took to Twitter earlier today to confirm that he has to go under the knife, ruling him out for the majority of the campaign.
"It's confirmed now surgery is required. Really gutted I will miss many games of the season. [I] Will work hard to be back as early as possible," he wrote.
"We have a strong squad that will do great in the league and I will be back in time for the Wembley finals."
Stoke boss Mark Hughes snapped up Liverpool's Oussama Assaidi on a season-long loan on deadline day.
