Stoke City have reportedly approached Derby County for permission to discuss their vacant managerial position with the Championship club's head coach Gary Rowett.
Stoke are currently on the lookout for a new manager following the departure of Paul Lambert at the end of last week.
The Potters are believed to want a new head coach in place as soon as possible, and according to Sky Sports News, Rowett is the leading candidate for the position.
The 43-year-old, who signed a new three-and-a-half-year deal with Derby in the early stages of 2018, led the Rams into the Championship playoff semi-finals before losing to Fulham.
Stoke, meanwhile, will play Championship football next season for the first time since the 2007-08 campaign following their relegation from the Premier League.
