Stoke City have revealed that they are disappointed with the decision of the Football Association to uphold the three-match suspension given to striker Jon Walters.
The Republic of Ireland international was sent off in the Potters' 1-1 draw with Norwich City on Saturday after fouling Alexander Tettey.
A statement on the club's official website said: "The club gave careful consideration to whether or not to appeal Jon's sending-off but we felt compelled to do so in the interest of consistency after three incidents of a more serious nature in the Premier League last weekend failed to result in red cards.
"We are disappointed with the lack of consistency that this decision seemingly supports."
Walters will miss his side's games against West Ham United, Aston Villa and Hull City.
