West Brom have accepted a charge of violent conduct against midfielder Matheus Pereira, the club have announced.
Pereira is alleged to have elbowed Stoke midfielder Joe Allen during West Brom’s home defeat on Monday night in an incident that was not seen at the time by match officials.
“Albion have accepted an FA charge of violent conduct against Matheus Pereira arising from a first-half incident in Monday night’s Sky Bet Championship game against Stoke City,” the Baggies said on their official website.
“The club has decided not to contest the charge and accept the automatic penalty of a three-match suspension.”
Pereira, 23, will miss Saturday’s FA Cup tie at West Ham, plus the following league games at Cardiff and at home against Luton.
The Brazilian, signed on loan from Sporting Lisbon in the summer, has scored five goals in 27 appearances in all competitions for the Baggies this season.
West Brom sit top of the Sky Bet Championship, five points clear of third-placed Fulham, but have failed to win any of their last six league matches.
