Stoke City striker Peter Crouch hopes that he can earn a contract extension at the Britannia and fulfil an ambition of staying there for the "foreseeable future".

Peter Crouch has reiterated his ambition to earn a contract extension at Stoke City, insisting that he wants to stay at the Britannia Stadium for the "foreseeable future".

The 33-year-old's existing deal expires in the summer, prompting speculation that the Potters could cash in on the veteran striker during the winter transfer window.

However, Crouch, who has netted five times in all competitions so far this season, is now hoping to vindicate manager Mark Hughes after the Welshman praised him recently.

"I am more than happy at the club. I don't know what will happen in the future, but at the moment, for the foreseeable future, I am happy playing for Stoke," he told The Mirror.

"I think it has been a good season and that we can finish in the top half of the league. It is nice to hear when the manager has got belief in you and hopefully I can stay here for a few more years after this.

"My contract is up at the end of the season, so I don't know what the future will hold, but at the moment, I will just continue to do - that is work hard and hopefully score some goals."

West Bromwich Albion are among those reportedly keen on signing him this month, with Tony Pulis, who brought him to Stoke, interested in a reunion.
