Stoke City defender Marc Muniesa has signed a new four-year contract with the Premier League club.
The former Spain Under-21 captain was one of manager Mark Hughes's first signings at the Potters when he joined on a free transfer from Barcelona in July 2013.
The 23-year-old has made 39 appearances in all competitions over the past two seasons, establishing himself as a first-team regular last season before suffering a hamstring injury, and Hughes is delighted to see him extend his stay at the club.
"We are absolutely delighted that he has re-committed to the club," Hughes told reporters. "He made a big decision when he decided to leave a club of the stature of Barcelona a couple of years ago.
"He is getting stronger month by month. He is a good guy, a real engaging character and we are so pleased that he is staying here with us for the long term."
Since signing Muniesa two years ago, Stoke have added three more ex-Barca players to their squad in the shape of Bojan Krkic, Moha El Ouriachi and Ibrahim Afellay.
