Steven Fletcher has been included in Sunderland's squad for their Premier League match against Liverpool this weekend, despite not training this week.
The striker limped out of the midweek match against Manchester City after clashing with Dedryck Boyata, and has not been able to train since.
Despite this, manager Gus Poyet told reporters: "Fletch is in the squad. He hasn't trained, but he is in the squad.
"Most sportsmen know that when you get that leg in the back and hits the nerve, it's quite painful.
"Of course, it takes a couple of days to get the pain away. It's still a bit uncomfortable, but because there is no injury, he'll be in the squad."
The 4-1 defeat to the Premier League champions earlier this week has left Sunderland 14th in the table.
