Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has stated that the victory at Crystal Palace was "massive" for his side.
The Black Cats picked up just their second win of the Premier League season as Jermain Defoe's goal gave them a 1-0 win at Selhurst Park on Monday evening.
"Palace have just come back from beating Liverpool away, that's how good they are," he told the Premier League's official website.
"We, as a team, have nullified that strength. We have frustrated Zaha, nullified Bolasie and not allowed Palace to create any real clear-cut chances.
"It is a massive victory for us and one that hopefully instils a little bit more confidence in the players."
Sunderland are now 18th in the Premier League table, one point adrift of safety.
