Sunderland's match winner Fabio Borini has said that his winning goal in the Tyne-Wear derby could be the moment that changes the club's season.
The striker came off the bench and swerved a shot past Tim Krul with only five minutes remaining.
Before that, Steven Fletcher had put the Black Cats in the lead with a header after five minutes, but Mathieu Debuchy equalised shortly after half time.
"We hope that goal can change our season. It was a special game and we can hopefully get a few wins now," Borini told BBC Sport.
"If we play like that we can improve our game. It was an unbelievable moment to score the winner in the derby."
The win was Sunderland's first of the season in the league.
