Sunderland winger Will Buckley has put his team's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City down to the work-rate that they displayed in drawing with Chelsea at the weekend.
The Black Cats became the first team to prevent the Premier League leaders scoring all season, but that resilience was missing on Wednesday night as they were overrun by a rampant City outfit.
The 25-year-old told Sky Sports News: "We played so well against Chelsea on Saturday and it probably showed in our legs. City's top players turned up and punished our mistakes.
"We worked hard to get the lead and to get pegged back within two minutes was a blow. When Sergio Aguero is on that form, he is difficult to contain."
Sunderland remain in 14th position in the Premier League standings.
