Sunderland winger Duncan Watmore has conceded that he had bittersweet feelings despite netting his first goal for the club on his Premier League debut.
The Black Cats were hammered 3-1 by Norwich City at the Stadium of Light as goals from Russell Martin, Steven Whittaker and Nathan Redmond handed the Canaries the win.
Watmore came on for the final 10 minutes and made an impact to notch his first goal for the club with a volleyed effort.
He told the club's official website: "It was mixed emotions for me to make my Premier League debut in front of those fans, they give you a real buzz, and to score was quite a surreal experience.
"However, we lost and we have not played well enough. On a personal level it was great for me, but for the team it was very disheartening. We will pick ourselves up this week and we know we will."
Sunderland play Swansea City in their next Premier League match.
