Steven Fletcher has insisted that he and his Sunderland teammates haven't discussed relegation this season.

The Black Cats have struggled for consistency this season but the victory over Southampton on Saturday has seen the team move four points clear of the bottom three.

Fletcher told The Journal: "People were talking about relegation before the game, but we were never talking about it and we weren't listening to that kind of talk.

"We never listened to that at all. We're a good side and we know we are. We just need to take every game as it comes and hope we get a few more wins."

Fletcher has netted eight league goals for Sunderland this season.
