Jeremain Lens has said that Sunderland can "beat everybody" after they gained their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Swansea City yesterday.
Lens set up Jermain Defoe's equaliser and had a goal chalked off for offside and manager Dick Advocaat said he was pleased with the result.
"We got one point today and we performed better than the last two so I'm happy with the that. Hopefully we will do the same in the next game," Lens told Sky Sports News.
"We need to be careful to say the season starts now. If we get a bad result the next game we start all over again. But of course everybody gets a good feeling about this game.
"We need to keep this spirit and if we do the same in the next game I think we can beat everybody. It feels like a start."
The 27-year-old signed for Sunderland from Dynamo Kiev in July.
