Sunderland boss David Moyes has been handed a one-match touchline ban which will be served with immediate effect.
Towards the end of Sunderland's 1-0 defeat to Southampton in the EFL Cup, Moyes was sent to the stands after swearing at the fourth official.
The Scot admitted the offence in his post-match reaction and was subsequently charged by the Football Association, who announced on Tuesday evening that Moyes would be forced to spend a match in the stands.
Moyes has also accepted a fine of £8,000 and he will now be absent from the dugout when the Black Cats visit Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.
Sunderland currently sit at the bottom of the Premier League table after failing to win any of their first 10 matches.
