Ola Toivonen has admitted that the calibre of players that Sunderland signed this summer convinced him to join the club.
The attacking midfielder has moved to the Stadium of Light on a season-long loan deal from Rennes.
Sunderland have also signed Yann M'Vila, Jeremain Lens and Younes Kaboul this summer and Toivonen says that he has been impressed with manager Dick Advocaat's work in the transfer market.
"You can see what kind of players we have here, and I think it's only going to get better," the Sweden international told the Shields Gazette.
"M'Vila is a quality player, so he's only going to get better with more fitness because he hasn't played for a long time. And the same goes for Kaboul, who needs to get a bit more fitness, like me.
"This international break is a good time for the whole club to get fit and train."
Toivonen made his Black Cats debut in the 2-2 draw at Aston Villa on Saturday.
