Sunderland manager Gus Poyet has insisted that Lee Cattermole was given his marching orders on Saturday because of his previous misdemeanors.
The midfielder, who had been sent off on six occasions before the trip to the KC Stadium, was dismissed for a challenge that he committed on Hull City's Ahmed Elmohamady.
"If you send Cattermole off, you send Brady off [for his tackle later in the match]. It's too easy to send Cattermole off. It's like sending off Dennis Wise, Patrick Vieira and Roy Keane - it's too easy. The most dangerous of the tackles was [Brady's]," he told reporters.
Despite Poyet's viewpoint, the club have opted not to contest the red card.
