Steed Malbranque has suggested that he would be interested in plying his trade in England again.
The 31-year-old left Sunderland to join Saint-Etienne last month.
He last week quit the club a month into his two-year contract, supposedly to care for his cancer-suffering son. However, a later statement revealed that the midfielder has no son.
"I never said [I was retiring]. The cub said that. I am still hesitant," he told L'Equipe. "I cannot put myself in the future."
"I did not take pleasure in training. I tried to be happy but I could not. England probably suited me better."
Malbranque also had stints at Fulham and Tottenham Hotspur during his ten-year stay in England.
