Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan has insisted that his side have enough quality in their ranks to avoid relegation this season.
The Black Cats currently sit bottom of the Premier League table after taking just one point from their opening eight games.
However, Vaughan is confident that a change in fortune is just around the corner.
"We just need a couple of good results to get the belief there and get on a good run," he told reporters. "We can easily climb up the table.
"We need to work together. If we start blaming each other, it's only going to get worse.
"If we can stick together and if we can get a couple of wins or a few good results, then the belief is there and we can hopefully climb up the table."
Sunderland travel to local rivals Newcastle United on Sunday. Vaughan was a goalscorer as the Black Cats recorded a 3-0 win in the same fixture last season.
