Sunderland defender Santiago Vergini has admitted that he and his teammates were "disappointed" that they only took a point from their Premier League clash against Aston Villa.
The Black Cats drew in the top flight for the 11th time this season as they failed to take advantage of playing against 10 men for the majority of the second half after Fabian Delph was sent off in the 49th minute.
Vergini told the club's official website: "We are a little bit disappointed particularly because we ended the game with a one-man advantage so it feels like we should of made the most of it, but we've got to think positively and look ahead to the next game on New Year's Day.
"It was important not to lose today particularly because of what happened on Boxing Day and we were also playing away from home, so before kickoff we would have probably taken a draw so it is positive from that point of view."
Sunderland are 14th in the Premier League with 20 points from their 19 matches this season.
