Sunderland striker Connor Wickham has admitted that he was delighted with his side's performance in their goalless draw with Chelsea at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats earned a point with a resilient display against the Blues and had chances of their own as Santiago Vergini hit the crossbar and Adam Johnson fired wide of the post.
"I thought we played well, Chelsea haven't lost a game all season and I think we did very well against them," Wickham told the club's official website.
"Chelsea created two or three chances throughout the game, but I think we created a lot more. We were unlucky not score, we hit the crossbar, the post and went very close to breaking towards the end when we really applied the pressure.
"Overall I think we defended well; we were really solid and I thought we got forward a lot; it's a well-earned point."
Sunderland, who became the first side this season top stop Chelsea from scoring in a top-flight game, are 13th in the Premier League following their draw with Jose Mourinho's men.
