Sunderland captain John O'Shea has admitted that the team still has plenty of work to do, despite their 4-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.
The Black Cats climbed off the bottom of the Premier League table at Craven Cottage as they earned an emphatic victory against their relegation rivals.
"It's a big step and it's a nice step for us but we're under no illusions, there's still a lot of work to be done. But it's nice when you score four goals away from home," the defender told Sky Sports News.
"We had to survive, not really constant pressure from Fulham, but we were aware they were going to have lots of possession at times but we dealt with that quite comfortably."
Sunderland return to action next weekend when they host Southampton in the Premier League.
