Bolton Wanderers have turned down an undisclosed offer from Sunderland for captain Kevin Davies, according to Sky Sports News.
Sunderland manager Martin O'Neill made his interest in the 34-year-old public yesterday evening.
However, speaking to reporters earlier today, Wanderers boss Owen Coyle insisted that Davies will not be leaving the Reebok Stadium this month.
"There is always going to be speculation when good players are not in the starting 11," said Coyle.
"There was a story the other day regarding Sunderland, and on the back of that Martin rang me and said there was an interest, what was the situation?
"I was up front and honest and told him Kevin was a big part of my plans."
Davies joined Wanderers in 2003 from Southampton.
