Sunderland have confirmed that veteran defender Wes Brown has signed a new one-year deal with the club.
The 35-year-old's contract with the Black Cats was due to expire at the end of the month, with reports suggesting that he could retire from the game.
However, Brown has decided to extend his stay on Wearside until the end of next season by penning a one-year contract.
The defender joined Sunderland in 2011 from Manchester United.
