Sunderland manager Gus Poyet believes that Jack Colback has the ability to force himself into the England squad.
The midfielder has impressed since Poyet took charge at the Stadium of Light, and the former Brighton & Hove Albion boss feels that Colback could be the surprise name in Roy Hodgson's World Cup squad.
"There's always one that goes to the World Cup that no-one expects. Jack's position is the one ahead of the central midfielder. He's got the legs, he presses and he passes the ball. He cares a lot about the ball which people don't always see," Poyet is quoted as saying by The Guardian.
"Now he's started to make the extra runs into the box which is great for us because, with our system, we need people pressing. So who knows what might happen now."
Hodgson is scheduled to watch the Black Cats when they play Hull City on Saturday.
