Swansea City midfielder Jack Cork admits that he was elated to net his first goal for the club since his January move in their 3-2 victory over Newcastle United.

Swansea City midfielder Jack Cork has revealed his delight about scoring his first goal for the club in their 3-2 victory over Newcastle United.

The Swans were forced to come from behind when Ayoze Perez handed the Magpies the lead, but Nelson Oliveira brought Garry Monk's men level.

In the second half, the visitors took control as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Cork got on the scoresheet in well-worked passing moves to secure the victory, despite a late strike from Siem de Jong.

"It was a great feeling to score," Cork told the club's official website. "It was a good counter-attack and Nelson's pass was spot on, so I couldn't miss from that range.

"It was a tough game as they really put pressure on us and deservedly went 1-0 up. We got our goal before half time and that really gave us a platform for the second half.

"It was a great delivery from Gylfi and Nelson took his goal well. I was really happy for Nelson because he's worked so hard. And we were really clinical in the second half. Gylfi doesn't miss from that range and I added another to give us a good cushion. Although we conceded late on it didn't take the gloss off the win."

Cork moved to Swansea in January from Southampton.
