Swansea City chairman Huw Jenkins has welcomed the news that Brendan Rodgers has agreed a new contract with the club.
Rodgers had been operating on a one-year rolling contract at the Liberty Stadium.
However, he is now close to signing a new deal that will keep at the club until the summer of 2015.
"Brendan's new contract is very good news," Jenkins told the South Wales Evening Post. "We are under no illusions about the fact that we have got one of the best young managers around working for our club.
"Brendan has shown what he is capable of over the last couple of seasons and what he has done for us has been very pleasing.
"He is very important to us and that's not going to change, so it was very, very important to get the contract sorted out."
Rodgers took over the Swans in July 2010.
