Former Bayern Munich reserve manager Mehmet Scholl has suggested that Louis van Gaal may struggle to work with Manchester United's experienced players if he makes the move to Old Trafford.
Van Gaal has been strongly linked with a move to England, but Scholl, who worked under Van Gaal at Bayern, believes that the Dutchman could struggle to get the best out of Wayne Rooney and other established players at the club.
The 43-year-old is quoted by The Guardian as saying: "For the big stars, it is not easy to work with him but, for the young players, he is brilliant. He is brilliant on the pitch and wants them to learn all the time, wants them to learn. Even the old players.
"Some of the players, I can tell you, like Rooney, I don't think that he has to learn anything more so that will be difficult for him if the coach says, 'You have to do it in a completely different way. Whatever you did until now, change it.'"
United are looking for a replacement for David Moyes, who was sacked as manager last month.
